Background of the Study
Regional economic disparities in Nigeria have long been a subject of policy concern. Comprehensive fiscal measures—encompassing both revenue and expenditure reforms—are increasingly recognized as instruments that can mitigate these disparities by redistributing resources more equitably across regions (Okoro, 2024). Fiscal measures such as progressive taxation, targeted subsidies, and region-specific developmental grants aim to bridge the economic gap between more and less developed areas (Adeyemi, 2023). Recent policy initiatives have sought to enhance regional balance by aligning fiscal policies with local development needs. Empirical evidence suggests that coordinated fiscal interventions can reduce regional inequalities by promoting infrastructural development, improving public service delivery, and stimulating local economic activities (Balogun, 2025). This study examines how comprehensive fiscal measures affect regional economic disparities, focusing on the mechanisms of resource allocation and the resultant economic outcomes. The analysis highlights the importance of tailored fiscal policies in addressing longstanding regional imbalances and fostering inclusive economic growth. With Nigeria’s diverse economic landscape, understanding the impact of fiscal measures on regional disparities is critical for achieving sustainable and balanced development (Okoro, 2024; Adeyemi, 2023; Balogun, 2025).
Statement of the Problem
Despite the implementation of fiscal measures aimed at reducing regional disparities, significant economic imbalances persist among Nigeria’s regions. Discrepancies in resource allocation, inadequate regional policy coordination, and uneven infrastructural development contribute to sustained economic inequality (Balogun, 2025). These challenges hamper overall national growth and fuel social tensions. The current fiscal framework appears insufficient to address the deep-rooted disparities between regions, necessitating a critical evaluation of policy effectiveness and implementation (Adeyemi, 2023; Okoro, 2024).

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it provides insights into how fiscal measures can address regional economic disparities. The findings offer policy directions that may promote equitable development and reduce inter-regional inequalities, contributing to national stability and growth (Okoro, 2024; Adeyemi, 2023; Balogun, 2025).
Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to assessing the impact of comprehensive fiscal measures on regional economic disparities in Nigeria. It focuses solely on fiscal policies and does not consider other regional determinants.
